The All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the Accord Party (AP), and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC)in Abia state, have petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the conduct of Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections held in the state.
The parties alleged that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the state, in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commssion(INEC), in Abia wrote the election results, which according to them, were not in tandem with card readers.
The petition was signed by Hon. Acho Obioma (APC), Sir Uzor Nwaoha (APGA) and ND Ubah (AP), and forwarded to DAILY POST on Sunday evening.
The parties demanded total cancellation of the March 9 gubernatorial and House of Assembly election held in the state, requesting INEC to reschedule the elections for a subsequent date to ensure credibility.
The petition reads in full, “With respect sir, we the under signed political parties want to bring to your attention the facts that there was no elections in Abia state. And that the purported elections is being collated by the INEC and PDP were done in total disregard and violations of the 2019 electoral guidelines and electoral act. We hereby state as follows.
“That the election was neither free and fair nor in credible as brutal force were deployed throughout the state by PDP using the Army and the police.
“That collation were not done at ward collation centres and our agents were chased out upon enquires. PDP and INEC in connivance have moved the ward collation centres to the LGA collation centre were results were written , which result were not in tandem with card readers.
“Finally sir, we demand total cancellation of the elections and request that elections be rescheduled in subsequent date to be supervised by INEC headquarters to ensure credibility and transparency.”
