Ifeanyi Ibezi, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in Saturday’s House of Representatives re-run election for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency has defeated the incumbent Obinna Chidoka of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Announcing the results, the Constituency Collation Centre in Ogidi, Prof. Alex Asigbo, said Ibezi polled a total of 29, 566 votes to clinch the legislative seat ahead of Chidoka who polled 26, 026 votes to finish second in the race.
“I hereby declare that Ibezi Ifeanyi Anthony of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law and polled the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” he said.
Recall that the political contest for Tue federal legislature was declared inconclusive on February 23rd over disruption of voting and collation process by suspected political thugs. Thereby, necessitating a rerun poll which was held yesterday.
Speaking to his supporters immediately after he was declared winner, Ibezi thanked everyone for their immense support and for the faith they reposed in him.
He vowed to fulfil the promises he made the people in his Manifesto.
